Red Hot Lips!

Finding the perfect red lipstick can be a bit daunting as reds can be scary enough to wear as it is for some of us so finding the red for you = half the battle won!

I've picked out a selection of red lipsticks of a variety of tones to help you find the one for you...

MAC Ruby Woo

MAC Ruby Woo lipstick is a blue-red which means your pearly whites will look whiter! :) It is a matte lipstick and I must add one of the driest lipsticks ever! So, to use this one you really need to make sure your lips are well moisturized and exfoliated.  Saying that, once the lips are in tip top condition and this lipstick is applied it looks great and wears amazingly for 5-6 hours of wear easy.
MAC Russian Red

This is a staple lipstick in MAC's permanent line and also a red carpet favorite for many celebrities. It is a true red with not very strong blue or orange base tones.  This is also a matte lipstick but is smooth to apply and has a slight sheen.  The sheen does not compromise the matte finish or the longevity of the lipstick.

MAC Dubonnet

MAC Dubonnet is more of a browny-red tone.  It is an Amplified finish therefore very glossy.  Despite it's glossiness it stays put, doesn't bleed and wears well through the day, for at least 4 to 5 hours.  Since, it is a browny-red it can work well with a variety of skin tones.
NYX Black Cherry
lipstick, review, nyx, black cherry

A more affordable option would be NYX Black Cherry.  It's a berry red shade which is not too cool and would work on both fairer and darker skin tones.  It would be a vampish lipstick for lighter skin ladies and more alluring for women of color.  The darkness of this red lippy means that for some this is not a color for every day wear.  It has great color pay-off and is opaque with one application.
It is a creamy lipstick but I find it a bit too creamy.  The texture makes it really slippy and it tends to bleed and wear off really easily.  As much as I like the color I rarely reach for this as I hate the way it tends to move and transfer, no matter how careful I am.
NYX Electra
lipstick, review, nyx, black cherry, electra, blog, red

A very bright red, which is nearly verging on an orangey-red.  Again it is the same texture as Black Cherry - it bleeds like crazy.  Its so creamy that the lipstick just melts.  This color is a little brighter than what I would wear myself too.
