As much as I love my high-end branded makeup from department stores where you have a one-to-one consultation service and wider product selection I absolutely get excited about beauty bargains I find at drugstore/high street stores.
In this monthly post I will tell you peeps about my top 3 finds that are just as good if not better than the high-end expensive alternatives. These are not just mere substitutes but on par excellence with others in market with a much heftier price tags.
These little beauties will keep that urge to shop for us makeup-a-holics when our finances don't quite agree! Lol
Enjoy! :)
Make Up Academy Eyeshadow Palette - Heaven & Earth
This is a selection on 12 gorgeous earthy neutral tones eyeshadows! I walked past this many a times underestimating the colour pay-off and pigmentation of them. How wrong could I be?!
These are the most buttery, smooth and easily blendable eyeshadows I think available in the more affordable makeup available. Pigmentation on each colour is amazing. It comes with a dual ended applicator which I do not care for much...
These also have no fallout - just be sure not to overload your eyeshadow brush. One swipe picks up just the amount of colour and you can give your brush a slight tap before applying just to be sure. Eyeshadow fallout is one of my pet hates so this for me is a real plus....
For a neutral eye lover like me this palette really is "heaven"ly ;)
The packaging is secure enough and nice n compact.. This is my go to choice to throw into my night away bag so that my heart does not break with the breakage of any eyeshadows (MAC palette was demolished not long ago!). Yet pleasantly, all are intact with no shadows damaged in any way...
You can do endless eye looks with this palette - just leave a comment if you would like to see detailed swatches of each colour and pictures of looks I have created using them...
Best part is that it is only £4.00 and the best way I'v spent my loose change recently!
These are available exclusively at Superdrug.. Pop in and give it a try if you need to be convinced even more!
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
I have bought and finished 4 tubes of this one and is something permanently placed in my makeup kit...
One of my most requested post is to tackle undereye darkness especially for south-asian skin tones and this tackles that one problem for me.
It is a fairly thick but creamy, hydrating concealer which has medium-full coverage, depending on how much is applied and built up.
I find this better to use than my MAC Studio Finish Concealer on my undereye area when it is on the drier side because the Collection 2000 has a creamier consistency.
It's one of my most loved and used concealers from my kit and I have at least 20 different ones, yet this tops every time...
It blends smoothly without tugging or pulling at undereye skin to spread it across area.
It can also be used on blemishes on the face and works great for that too.
Best to apply a little first as you really don't need as much as you may think initially.
I use a MAC 217 brush to blend this into the areas needed before setting with translucent powder and its set for the day :)
The only issue with this otherwise great product is that it only comes in a selection of 4 shades so finding a shade may be difficult for all. I am a NC 37 in MAC and a " Deep No. 4" shade and its really nowhere near the darker side of the colour spectrum.
This is priced at £4.19 - available from Boots and Superdrug (watch out for the 3 for 2 offers!)
Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil
We all have those little areas in our eyebrows that we wish had hair to give us that striking eyebrow..this is when I use this for a little help :)
I have tried all powders, gels etc to do my eyebrows over the years and found it too time consuming.
This pencil is what I have been solely using for the last 5-6 years at least now and is the only eyebrow product I own! It takes just a couple of minutes and stays put most of the day unless really hot n sweaty when it can fade a little.
Unlike some other pencils this has a non-waxy/shiny finish making it look more natural. It also has a brush on the lid to comb the pencil through brows..I do not tend to use this too much but does come in handy when out and about.
I use the shade "Black Brown" applied with a light hand.
This is only £2.99 from Superdrug and Boots and lasts forever!
Hope you enjoyed reading this and find the products work wonders for you like they have for me :)
If you would like any further information or pictures/reviews on any of the above products. Please leave a comment below and I will do a seperately dedicated post...
